A soldier discovers the cost of honor at the truce village of Panmunjom on the border of North Korea. An accurate day-by-day portrayal of what it was like to serve in an elite hand-picked force at Panmunjom in the 1970's. Freedom Pagoda is a story of bar girls and seedy nightclubs, perversion and taking advantage in a foreign country, of race hatred and intolerance. Tensions between American and North Korean fanatic soldiers existing in a decades-old winless military stalemate flare up. At Panmunjom the combat is face-to-face and hand-to-hand. Based on real events.

Freedom Pagoda delivers the inside view of a young man's life inside the military, serving in a foreign country, and facing the challenges of life and love for the first time. While it gives you a good look inside the military and political workings of warring parties, it also is reflective of one man's life that is touching, raw and real. It's a boy becomes a man story that will leave you wondering when the sequel will be available.

Jim Mazour: I recommend this book to all JSA veterans. It will bring back lots of memories, especially for those who served in the unit during the early 1970's time period.

Why do we do the things we do? How do we shift from one place to another? One day, things are going fine, as we may find ourselves skipping gleefully and whistling while we work; the next day, we may find ourselves schlepping one foot in front of the other with our heads hung low. How did author Peter Osterbauer go from being a successful and respected husband, father, and doctor living in a large home on the side of a mountain, to an adulterous, alcoholic, occultist living in a tiny room in someone's basement he found on Craigslist? How and why do we sabotage ourselves? More importantly, how do we shift back on track once we've dug ourselves into a pit?

Life can be the same. We can be working toward some goal, be it a college degree, starting a family, or living a peaceful life, and a slight shift can send us in a different direction. One small shift can start a chain reaction, sending us into a tailspin of destruction or on the road to freedom.

Join author Peter Osterbauer as he reveals how this type of change transpired in his life, and explore how it may have happened in yours. Together, you will discover how to make corrective shifts if you have wandered off the straight and narrow course. If you are trapped in a way of life that you detest, but don't know how to find your way out, this book is for you. If you are in quicksand of shame and self-loathing, this book is for you. If you've lost all hope and are on the verge of giving up, this book is definitely for you!...
A family of three tied up, each with a gun to their head, “Where's the money? Where's the fucking money?” one of the intruders yelled. A petrified daughter tortured and forced to listen to her parents being shot in cold blood. “I heard shots, like pops,” she told the 911 operator, “somebody's broke into our home, please, I need help!” Was this a home invasion? Or something else, more sinister, a deadly betrayal.

The real-life horror story that happened inside the Pan family home shocked their normally peaceful upscale Toronto neighborhood. The Pans were an example of an immigrant family. Hann and his wife, Bich Pan, fled from Vietnam to Canada after the U.S.-Vietnamese war to find a better life. Their daughter, Jennifer, was an Olympic-caliber figure skater, an award-winning pianist, and a straight A student.

The Pans worked their way up in this rags-to-riches story, now living in a beautiful home with luxury cars in the driveway. Was it these expensive items that lured three intruders with guns into their home on the night of November 8, 2010?...

#1 Amazon International bestselling novel, “One True Home – Behind the Veil of Forgetfulness.”

My great grandfather was a Slave

My grandfather was a Native

My grandmother was a Bantu

My mother was a kaffir, Nigga, Negro

Names imposed by shackles

But an Afrakan I am

An identity my forefathers were deprived of

An identity I am now polluting with the fumes of cigarettes

In dope I am giving it another face

In ecstasy I am giving it a comical image

My drunken stupor gives it an unstable belonging

My borrowed accent contradicts what it represents

My imitated dress code conceals its beauty

My adopted religion undermines my intellectual prowess

My language deafens my ancestors

My values are valueless

My mind is discriminatory

It repels anything indigenous

Whilst absorbing all that is alien

None can identify with me

Even those I am emulating

Patriotism I reserve for my kind

I look down at my patriots

If I were xenophobic

I could have been my own victim

I pride myself in my slanted inferior education

An education promptly deleting my true history

Ignorance is my custom

I am dreaming dreams my forefathers cannot interpret

I am singing praise songs for my dying culture

I am branding a heritage

I cannot inherit

Knowledge of freedom is embedded in my subconscious

But suppressed by fear

Fear to develop my culture and identity

Fear to be rejected by the world

Fear to be different and still love myself

Yet with no identity I remain
